SQA is a recognised awarding body in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Having Ofqual recognised awarding body status allows us to submit awards and qualifications into the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The NQF is the framework which sets out the levels against which a qualification can be recognised in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Several of our qualifications have already been accredited onto the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and we are regularly submitting other qualifications for accreditation.  The NQF will end in 2010 and is expected to be replaced by the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). Approval to deliver SQA Qualifications

If you are based in the UK outside Scotland you can gain Centre Approval status by contacting our Approval Team on Tel: 0845 213 5364 or for E-mail enquiries: Gordon Moffat GRAPHIC: e-mail icon.

If you have already been approved by another recognised UK Awarding Body and have had a successful External Verification visit in the previous 12 months then it may be possible for us to waive our approval fee and approve your centre without a visit. Our approval team will be able to offer further guidance about this.

Our Qualifications

We are in the process of developing high quality vocationally related qualifications in a number of sectoral areas.  These qualifications fit well with current and future occupational standards and are designed to prepare candidates for the workplace.

The list of SQA qualifications accredited by Ofqual is growing fast. Information on some of these is available using the 'Subjects' dropdown on the left hand side of this page.
